Ms. Arpita Varghese

The United World College (UWC) represents a global educational movement dedicated to harnessing the power of education to foster unity among individuals, nations, and cultures, ultimately contributing to global peace and sustainability. In this session, Ms Arpita Varghese, presently serving as a Gender and Humanitarian Action Analyst at UN Women, shares insights into her experiences as an alumna of UWC Mahindra College. Dr. Sandhya Sukumaran

A distinguished Public Health Expert, shares her understanding of the challenges and triumphs associated with career breaks and reintegration into the professional sphere, particularly for women. Dr. Sukumaran, formerly an Assistant Director in the Animal Welfare Department, has undergone a remarkable career transformation. Following an interval accompanying her family abroad, she pursued her MBA and MPhil in Applied Economics, later successfully earning a doctorate in public health.

Presently serving as the Senior Global Health Security Agenda Advisor at USAID, Dr. Sukumaran's experiences provide valuable lessons for those considering or currently undergoing similar transitions in their career. Besides, her story highlights the strategic decision-making involved in redefining one's professional path and underscores the importance of continuous learning and skill development.

UWC: Admissions 2022

United World Colleges (UWC) has established 18 schools and colleges across four continents, providing a rigorous and transformative educational experience to over 10,500 students annually. Prospective students from India have the opportunity to apply to UWCs both within the country and abroad.

The UWC Committee of India is responsible for processing applications from Indian aspirants for UWCs, both domestic and international.
